Microsoft expected to reveal Surface PC at Windows 10 October event
As a result, although the Surface All-in-One PC will be the star of the show, expect some other devices to see daylight as well, all of them developed by partners.
The reason that Surface Desktop rumors kicked into high gear earlier this month was because of a glimpse of two peripherals (the same keyboard and mouse) bearing Surface branding and design that went public. The Surface Book 2, Surface Pro 5, and Atom-based Surface 3 also probably won’t debut this calendar year.
Microsoft also appears to be getting ready for a ton of new Surface-branded PC accessories. The bad news is the long-rumored Surface Phone is nowhere near ready for prime time.

The company also isn’t expected to do anything on the Windows Mobile front, though The Verge reports that the company may use the event to make an Xbox-related announcement. Considering the new line of Surface-like machines that popped up recently, that could be a smorgasbord for consumers looking to buy higher-end tablet hybrids.
The software giant relies on it for additional features they plan for the Microsoft Surface Book 2, which is reportedly the reason, among others, that they chose to put off an October showing for the laptop.
Kevin Gallo, Corporate VP of Windows, spoke this summer about the future of Windows Phone, explaining that it is “fully supporter” and that Microsoft is “fully behind it”. We’ll be there covering the event live, naturally.
ZDNet sources say Microsoft will hold a late October launch of the new hardware device, codenamed “Cardinal” running Windows 10 and may come in three different screen sizes: 21 inches, 24 inches, and 27 inches.
