No. 2 Ohio State struggles at times but downs IN 38-17

The last time IN beat Ohio State on the football field was IN 1988 when a very good IU team routed John Cooper’s first OSU team 41-7. While the nation has been enthralled with the play of Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson, Ohio State’s junior quarterback J.T. Barrett has been putting together his own Heisman-worthy campaign. Lagow gave IN 276 yards through the air with a pair of touchdowns and an interception on 16-26 with Ricky Jones grabbing five passes for 124 yards and a score. Samuel scored the lone rushing TD, as the Buckeyes utilized Barrett’s arm to get in the end zone. Each of the last two seasons, IN has scored 27 points against the Buckeyes, and the 2014 game at Ohio Stadium was a 42-37 loss. He carried the ball 26 times. Ind., 3-0. Drive: 7 plays, 25 yards, 2:47. “We went for a crease on a big boy diagonal with a possible play-action pass. They loaded up, and they kicked our butt at the line of scrimmage”.

The Indiana Hoosiers (3-1) defeated the Michigan State Spartans, 24-21, last week.

“We can’t focus on what other schools do, and we just have to focus on what we need to do to prepare for the next upcoming game”, he said.

Despite being a vastly lower ranked team than the Buckeyes, Indiana did give Ohio State a run for its money last season in a game that came down to the final minutes.

They came into Saturday No. 58 in the country in passing offense, averaging 244.3 yards per game. Last year, Ohio State won 34-27. Barrett has completed 4 of 9 passes for 41 yards, but he has made up for it on the ground with 59 yards on 10 carries.

Back in 2012, South Carolina Coach Steve Spurrier posited that Alabama “would be favored by a little bit” over “a couple of these National Football League teams that I’ve watched on Sundays”.

Back in March of 2016, 57% of Ohioans believed that the Ohio State Buckeyes could beat the Cleveland Browns and only 23% thought otherwise.
