Clinton leads Trump by double digits in Michigan
“Maybe he didn’t look at it as debate prep, but I think some of his staffers sort of thought that this was a good dress rehearsal for him”, Carr told Don Lemon on “CNN Tonight”.
Following what Clinton’s campaign described as “his worst week yet” – culminating with the leak of documents suggesting he may have paid no income tax for two decades – Trump revived his attacks on the former secretary of state’s handling of classified information via a “basement” email server.
New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, a Republican running for re-election, stumbled on Monday night when she was asked whether she considers her party’s nominee to be a role model for children. But Frankel didn’t rule out a comeback by Trump in the second debate.
Seeking to raise the bar for the businessman, Clinton advisers said they do expect Trump to be more measured than in the last debate.
“Remember”, he said minutes later, “He got impeached for lying”.
During the 2000 election, George W. Bush was answering a question on leadership when Vice President Gore stood up from his chair and walked unnaturally close to his Republican rival.
First lady Michelle Obama joined in, assailing Trump at a rally in Charlotte, North Carolina.
But Trump revealed little interest in participating in a mock debate.
Unlike that debate, which featured a single moderator asking questions on a wide variety of topics, including the economy, national security and race relations, the second bout will be a town hall style format. The GOP nominee wished Clinton a speedy recovery at the time, telling Fox & Friends, “Something’s going on, but I just hope she gets well and gets back on the trail and we’ll be seeing her at the debate”. That’s not debate prep – she’s resting.
Trump and Clinton are in a tight race for votes in the battleground state.
Democrats, by a 91 percent to 4 percent margin, thought Clinton was the victor.
In their first debate, Clinton baited Trump by needling him on the size of his wealth, his business practices, his insulting comments about women and more. Trump promised Page Six he wouldn’t be bringing it up after all, saying, “I want to win this election on my policies for the future, not on Bill Clinton’s past”. It also found 5.2% supporting Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson and.8% backing Green Party candidate Jill Stein.
Aides created the stage set up, complete with where the candidates would stand and where the moderator and questioners would sit. News networks, YouTube, Twitter, others will offer free live streams.
