Arkansas basketball team to hold open practice for fans
This is the first true road game for Ole Miss on the season and they will get tested in this one.
In one of three top-25 games this week, the No. 12 Ole Miss Rebels will travel to face off against the No. 22 Arkansas Razorbacks in a rematch of last year’s thrilling game. Austin Allen threw for 206 yards and three touchdowns in 13-for-18 passes. The duo combined for 571 yards of total offense.
Defensively, Chris Jones also added a big play by scoring on an interception return for a touchdown.
“Definitely have to learn from our mistakes”, said Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema. The Ole Miss Rebels ground game is averaging 157 yards per contest, and Akeem Judd leads the way with 302 yards and two touchdowns.
Evan Engram led the Rebels with seven catches for 111 yards and a touchdown.
Arkansas then went on one of its trademark 13-play, 73 yard trudges, but again could only settle for a field goal. In the two losses for Arkansas, Allen completed 66.7 and 52.1 percent of his passes.
Walker has had complications from a broken foot he suffered during spring practice. Dwayne Eugene, De’Jon Harris and Khalia Hackett will play in his stead. Hugh and his staff are very creative. “They’ve changed some, but they can remake themselves like they’ve always looked”. Their receivers are very tall, very lanky. While that has certainly been the way in the past, this year’s Arkansas team is throwing the ball quite a bit. Ole Miss gives up a league worst 215 yards rushing per game. Don’t be fooled by BYU’s record, they are a good team – especially at home. “We don’t take that for granted at all. I think he will play very, very well”. “It’s just up to us to bring our game”. I think the key, though, will be neutralizing Arkansas’ tight ends that do so much for their offense.
“We can’t (have inconsistency) in the SEC”, Patrick said. “They’ve got linebackers that can run; they’ve got safeties that can run”. Rawleigh Williams III has to be better and their offense line needs to regroup. The Razorbacks played their style of game to perfection by holding the ball for over 40 minutes and racking up over 200 yards on the ground. However, the past three years – which coincide with the start of Bielema’s tenure in Fayetteville – the Rebels have answered the Hog call in November. The kicker here is they can’t pull a nine-minute drive only to kick a FG or flat out not score. “Just a really good player”.
Everyone knew that when West Virginia joined the Big12 that it would be tough for them to win on the road due to the length of the road trips that had to be made.
The Razorbacks will have to account for Ole Miss defensive end Marquis Haynes, who PFF rated as the ninth-best pass rusher in the SEC.
This is pretty much the opposite of an ideal situation for Arkansas.
As porous as the Razorbacks’ defense has been this season, it’s hard for me to predict a Razorback victory.
