New York Jets vs. Arizona Cardinals Betting Odds, Analysis, NFL Pick

Much like in 2015, it appeared as though Ryan Fitzpatrick and the Jets’ offense would have the benefit of a stout ground game to build a game plan around, opening up passing plays downfield with play action.

The Jets are 1-4 and have lost their last three games by a combined score of 82-23. A pair of matchups against the New England Patriots are still on the horizon, but so are games against the hapless Indianapolis Colts and San Francisco 49ers. “You don’t really feel good about the next one but you’ve got to make it”. Look for that to change Monday night against the Cardinals.

At home, Palmer faces a plus matchup against a Jets passing defense that has been shredded by opposing quarterbacks through five weeks. This team has no business talking about second place, let alone the playoffs, at this point, but it needs a victory on the road if such discussion can be possible later on. The Cardinals are seeking to revive their vertical passing game, and the Jets’ overmatched secondary is the flawless tonic.

TOUGH SLEDDING: David Johnson rushed for 157 yards and two touchdowns against the 49ers, earning NFC offensive player of the week honors, but it will be a lot tougher against a Jets defense that has given up just 68 rushing yards per game, second-best in the NFL. Mariota is coming off his best game last week.

“You always want your best players out there and Eric’s obviously one of our best players from what he did last year and even the beginning of this year”. Palmer had started 22 consecutive games before missing last week’s with concussion. The defense for Arizona is something head coach Bruce Arians is looking to make sure is improved.

Everyone knew the challenges the Jets faced with this schedule, five of their first six opponents having made the playoffs in 2015, and the one that did not, the Bills, had beaten them twice past year. They’ve allowed 24 completion on 29 attempts to non-screen running back passes. The Cardinals allow 4.6 yards per carry and 118.2 yards per game, so the opportunity is there if the Jets’ offensive line is able to control the trenches.

The Jets need a clean game from Fitzpatrick, an Arizona native that played high school football at Gilbert Highlands. The latest demolition of the club came in Pittsburgh last week.

Aside from the winless Cleveland Browns, no team has had a worse start to the season than NY.

But for as bad as the Jets defense has been, things could get better soon. His 457 rushing yards placed him third in the National Football League entering Week 6 and his 695 yards from scrimmage were the most of any player. The Jets have the ball, resulting in a 7-play, 69-yard Jets’ touchdown. This should be a quality match up, but if we could see a lot of Markus Golden and Chandler Jones on Ryan Fitzpatrick, the Cardinals should be in a good position to win this game.
