Google Pixel XL review

The difference with the Assistant and Google Now is that the former can have a conversation with you about random stuff.

The Pixel and Pixel XL aren’t designed just for the hardcore Android enthusiast. Apple may get the spotlight as the status symbol, but globally Android is everywhere. Instantly, I was asked about Google’s new phone – despite the commercials never showing the phone. According to some report, Google Pixel (and also Google XL) may be less friendly to developers.

You can activate Google Assistant at any time by saying “OK Google”, or by long-pressing the home button. He implies in his review that Google did good in melding great software with excellent hardware – something that Apple has been very good at in the recent years. He adds that Google may have come up with big ideas for its new smartphone, but it still falls short of its goal of producing an “iPhone-killer”. For some this will be a deal breaker, especially now the iPhone is waterproof and to be honest, we expected more from Google at this price point. On the other hand, the Google Pixel is thicker and heavier as it measures 143.8×69.5×8.5mm and weights 143 grams.

In order to get the most from your Pixel or Pixel XL, here are seven settings you should set up or change right away.

Nexus is dead. Pixel is king. Okay I’ve said it, let’s move on.

Before trying this, the first step is to uninstall Google App from the device and download these three.zip files and copy them to phone’s internal storage.

Say “OK Google, I’m Feeling Lucky” to the Google Assistant, and you’ll be whisked away to a insane audio-only trivia game show. Though make no mistake, Google is looking to make the experience of both the same.

The Google Pixel XL and Samsung Galaxy S7 edge both feature 5.5-inch AMOLED displays with 2560 x 1440 pixel resolutions, putting the pixel density at 534ppi. Other than this the phones are exactly the same. I’m a big Google user, so don’t judge lol.

As mentioned earlier, you can get the Pixel phones in either 32- or 128GB storage capacities with £100 between the two. Colors in some shots look too strong and clean to me, thanks to software processing meant to reduce distortion and improve detail (something all phones do to some extent).

But are they any good and are they worth buying? Google has given a special data transfer tool which is a Type-C USB port on one and a regular USB on one end.

Goodbye Nexus; hello Pixel phone. Not that I don’t like it, it just takes getting use to. Numerous apps I was already used to on iOS have analogs on Android that feel similar.

Google’s version goes further in offering daily updates such as weather and news, though plenty of apps already offer similar capabilities through notifications.

There are a couple of cases in which I prefer the Pixel’s results, but most of the time, the iPhone wins. As Google’s AI gets smarter, the Assistant will become more helpful.

But then again, this is nothing more than a confusion being stirred by Verizon. What else? Here is some things I’ll leave you with.

It’s easy to scoff and dismiss that claim, given the company’s track record with hardware products such as Google Glass have fallen flat. Google’s new Pixel, which is the first phone that the company has built entirely on its own, inside and out, just feels right. However, the search giant has finally introduced an elite camera sensor in its latest flagship smartphone which is capable of going toe-to-toe with the best performing smartphone cameras in the market. It served me links to the bar rather than suggesting places nearby. Oh and Google Photos gives you unlimited storage for all of your photos and videos.
