Apple may launch new MacBook Pro models in October
The iMac was last updated in October of 2015, the MacBook Airs in March of that year, the Mac Mini in October of 2014, and the Mac Pro in December of 2013.
Apple has invited journalists to yet another event next week. However, the tagline for the event, “Hello Again”, could be a reference to the unveiling of Apple’s original Macintosh.
Apple plans to announce a fresh lineup of Macs on October 27th, according to Recode.
Apple is reportedly ditching the traditional USB ports from its next-gen MacBook Pro model rumored to be released this year.
MacBook Pro 2016 is expected to be thinner and lighter than the existing models.
On the MacBook Air side, Macotakara reports that Apple will kill off the 11-inch version of its popular laptop in favor of the 13-inch model.
In the article, Macotakara states that Apple will unveil the new MacBook Pros at the end of this month, while the laptops will begin shipping to retailers “in October”. The company on Wednesday sent invitations to the media, asking them to gather at Apple headquarters in Cupertino, Calif., for a product launch event. The update brings Siri to the Mac, improved file syncing with iCloud, a way to share copied items across Apple devices and more. The usual top function row keys will be replaced with application matching dynamic keys with touchscreen OLED strip. The MacBook Pro has been subject to a few hardware refreshes in the last few years, but it hasn’t seen a major overhaul since 2012.
Citing a “reliable Chinese supplier”, it goes on to say the new MacBook Pros will drop the traditional USB ports for the newer, and much less widespread, USB-C ports.
It is likely that the updated MacBook laptops will use Intel processor, have at least 8GB RAM and will be powered by macOS Sierra.
