Reliance Jio free services offer open till December 3
A day earlier, India’s telecom regulator said the network of the Mukesh Ambani-owned company was the slowest in the country, lagging behind speeds offered by the top four carriers – Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications.
He also commented that users who will not register for these services till December 3 will be forced to use new offers as well as tariff plans made available by the company.
“… It is found that the tariff plans filed with Trai can not be considered as IUC non-complaint, predatory and discriminatory, at present”, the Trai said in a letter to telecom operators.
The analysis comes even as analysts have expressed concerns over the impact of Reliance Jio’s foray on the revenues of Idea, Vodafone and Bharti Airtel, given the RIL subsidiary’s aggressive plans to woo customers.
Here’s what it is – While TRAI has recognized that Jio could offer the free calls and data, that cannot be done for more than 90 days, and that time ends on December 3rd. According to Jio, a higher proportion of its users “run up against the FUP limit” since the company’s Welcome Offer is free. In fact, on several occasions, Airtel’s 4G has proved to be faster than Jio.
Jio is also offering unlimited free fourth-generation or 4G mobile broadband till December 31. The country, thanks to the help of Reliance Jio, has set a major foot forward towards the growth of internet infrastructure in the nation.
Trai has also proposed if a common interconnection exchange can be set-up for effective interconnection facility which will also lead to reduction in number of ports required for it. Any handset that is 4G VoLTE-ready will be able to enjoy Jio’s offer.
Mukesh D. Ambani, founder of Reliance Jio has reportedly spent about $20 billion to build out this robust 4G network to support the gigantic usage load of the Indian masses. Calls over a 4G network reduce drops and increase clarity and voice quality. It is being reported that many consumers failed to receive SIM cards as they went out of stock at some select stores.
It is easy to lure millions of customers with free offers. After January 1, 2017, customers should recharge to continue to avail offers.
Meanwhile, there is another news which will bring cheers from Jio camp. This might have been true if 25 million users hadn’t choked the network within the past two months.
