Galette participates in first workout as a Redskin
Junior Galette is thankful that the Washington Redskins gave him a second chance.
Pass rusher Junior Galette (27 years old) was released by the New Orleans Saints five days ago. When he’s not being arrested for allegedly beating a woman and trying to force her out of his home (later dismissed), he’s being caught on video in a beach fight in which he strikes multiple people, including a female, with a belt (attorney insists that’s merely a Galette lookalike in the footage). Charges were dropped, but the league is still reviewing the case.
Cornerback DeAngelo Hall, a pal of Galette’s who shares his agent, said the signing “takes us from good to great. Three minutes in there and that is not necessarily easy but I would say it is easier than sitting in a punch bowl”. “So until I do, I won’t draw any conclusions on what’s happened to him in the past”.
Now fast forward to the spring of 2015 when the Saints consistently talked about how the team was looking to bring in and add quality, high character guys to their ball club. A fifth-year veteran out of Stillman, the 6-foot-2, 258-pound Galette boasts incredible talent, having recorded a total of 22 sacks in 2013 and 2014 – his 1st two seasons as a starter.
Due to an Twitter rant that many fans thought was orchestrated by Galette (but not proven to be), Galette’s options looked slim for teams wanting to sign him.
Payton said, “I think you learn all the time with contracts, timing, all those things”.
Wilson signed a four-year contract extension on Friday, keeping him with the franchise that took him in the third round of the 2012 draft and watched him become one of the most successful young quarterbacks in NFL history. Galette said he liked general manager Scot McCloughan’s honesty.
“Obviously, he’s had some issues in the past”, Redskins coach Jay Gruden said Thursday before the first practice of training camp. I know how these guys feel about it. It is something that we spent some time on in the offseason, Mickey (Loomis) and I. We will have that available, one for our team, one for the Pelicans. “We have a little bit of that, and we have to overcome that”.
Rookies Hau’Oli Kikaha and Davis Tull are expected to compete with veteran free agent signing Anthony Spencer for the role of pass rushing outside linebacker. The NFL is investigating the issue and Galette’s lawyer denies the man in the video is his client. So, I’ve got to stay enthused and excited.
“We’ll see how quickly he can practice, ‘ Gruden said, “but we think he’ll be ready to go here quick”. With such a good deal on a pass rusher at stake?
