Denver gives Osweiler rude welcome in 27-9 win over Houston
“When Brock was here, we was real cool”.
Week 7 – NFL Videos Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler is booed by fans in Denver as he takes the field against his former team the Broncos for the first time. For Osweiler and O’Brien though, what the world witnessed on Monday Night Football in Week 7 is something that needs to be addressed, not pushed to the backburner.
Coach Gary Kubiak returned to the sideline following his second health scare in three years, and he liked what he saw as the Broncos (5-2) snapped a two-game skid in sending Osweiler and the rest of the overwhelmed Texans home at 4-3. After the game, at least one of Osweiler’s former teammates was not shy in expressing just how fortunate the Broncos are not to have Osweiler leading the offense this season. The San Diego Chargers will be facing a very different Broncos from the ones they defeated just over a week ago. Osweiler completed just 52 percent of his passes in those road games and is averaging just 4.1 yards per attempt. And Houston was limited to Nick Novak’s field goals from 43, 43 and 29 yards. Last year, the Texans were 27th in Adjusted Passing NEP per play with the mix of Hoyer, Ryan Mallett, T.J.
Apparently it’s not going to be immortalized like the “Butt Fumble”, but I think it’s just as amusing.
This was a game that surely meant the world to him, it was his chance to show the Broncos that they should regret losing him. With that said, if Thomas doesn’t find the endzone on any particular week owners probably won’t get much out of him.
The Texans’ entire offensive game plan was a quivering bow to the Denver defense.
Here’s a look at the good, the bad, and the in-between from Monday Night Football’s game between the Texans and Broncos.
“That’s still a lot of yards”, Smith said.
The Broncos pounded the ball on the ground all night, rushing for 190 yards and getting one of the best performances in awhile from C.J. Anderson, who led the way with 107 yards on 16 carries.
They went on to increase that lead in the third quarter through Devontae Booker, before two additional field goals secured the win. “I thought Brock did a good job in trying to avoid as many as he could”.
Now, for comparison sake, here are Osweiler’s career numbers through Monday night’s game. And while the defense was gashed on the ground, it is allowing 24 fewer passing yards per game than it did past year.
If the Texans can’t get Osweiler, or Hopkins, going against that defense, it might be time to assess the position, especially with a bye in Week 9. It just has to be more consistent.”That’s the thing, we were too inconsistent”, Whitney Mercilus said”. With Newton out, the Texans will look to veteran Chris Clark to take over.
