Russian FM says other ‘sabotaged’ Syria talks
Russian Federation has accused armed groups in Aleppo of firing into escape corridors to prevent civilians from leaving.
The Syrian leader also said he’d be making no political changes as he plans to at least finish out his third seven-year term, which ends in 2021, the Times noted.
The Russian General said civilians could leave the city through six routes, while members of armed groups might do so through two routes – the Syrian-Turkish border and the Syrian city of Idlib.
“Every member of the coalition, as we prosecute the campaign on Mosul”, Kirby said, “will be mindful of doing this in a way that is in accordance with global law and observes the basic human rights of the innocent people of Mosul, something else that is not happening in and around Aleppo. OK?” Putin turned the tide of the war in Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad’s favor by ordering Russia’s military to begin the airstrikes in September previous year.
Russian Federation said on Wednesday that it would extend a moratorium on airstrikes in the Syrian city of Aleppo until Friday to give embattled anti-government rebels a chance to leave the city and to “avoid senseless victims” of continued fighting.
Russian Federation refuses to distinguish among groups fighting the government, considering all of them, even moderates backed by the United States, to be terrorists.
All peace talks have failed and now Putin has four warships and three submarines poised to launch his final assault.
“We continue putting efforts together with Americans, representatives of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Turkey, and we are looking for the opportunities to resolve this crisis”, said Lavrov. The most recent was just in mid-October, when United Nations and Red Cross aid trucks sat at the Turkish border for weeks, awaiting confirmation that it was safe for them to pass.
Shoigu insisted this did not affect the ships’ schedule “since they are equipped with all the necessary resources”.
A naval task force bound for Syria has entered the Mediterranean, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said Tuesday, according to an e-mailed statement.
“At the moment the pause is continuing, the exit of the civilian population from eastern Aleppo is being enabled, conditions are being created for humanitarian aid”, Peskov told a conference call with reporters.
On Sunday Syrian state media said militants fired poison gas at a government-held area of Aleppo, causing 35 people to choke, a report that a rebel official denied.
Russian President Vladimir Putin offered a new unilateral pause in fighting in war-ravaged Aleppo on Wednesday, urging rebels to use it to leave the city’s besieged eastern districts.
The rebels will be allowed to leave with their weapons.
Aleppo, once Syria’s second largest city before the start of war in the country, has been a major frontline in the fight against different Takfiri militant groups. When a US airstrike mistakenly hits civilians, he said, the USA military owns up to it, investigates and announces the results, unlike “virtually any other military in the world”. That the rebels have already rejected it, however, suggests they believe they are not defeated yet.
The UN did not have detailed enough information to attribute the attacks to specific groups, she said.
Fighters launched a major assault on Friday, backed by vehicle bombs and salvos of rockets, to break through government lines and reach the 250,000 people besieged in Aleppo’s east.
