Post-election unity? Clinton and Trump won’t say yet
Clinton’s numbers are largely unchanged from the last poll (40-52), while Trump’s numbers improved slightly from earlier this month (27-66). The four-point gap is narrower from six points in the previous round of polling and twelve points when the tracking began. It had a credibility interval, a measure of accuracy, of 4 percentage points. They say that whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger, and I sure hope that’s true. Trump, he said, told Clinton “you are one tough and talented woman”.
As Trump continues to shore up his Republican support and improve his standing among Hispanics (though still losing this group by a wide margin), he is ensuring Nevada remains competitive all the way through Election Day. That leaves 87 electoral votes now up for grabs in the remaining battleground states. The poll, released on Wednesday, showed Clinton leading 49-44 per cent in the head-to-head matchup.
Meanwhile, Republicans had the edge among Floridians who have cast vote-by-mail ballots, up 606,144 to 569,783 over registered Democrats.
Statewide, 55 percent of likely voters say the comments captured on a 2005 video that emerged publicly earlier in October disqualify Trump from being president. Earlier this month, Clinton topped Trump in MI by roughly 11 points. “We are also seeing independents, Democrats and union workers saying no to Clinton’s special interest driven agenda, and yes to Mr. Trump’s plan to put America first”, Tim Lineberger, communications director for Trump’s MI campaign team told The Daily Caller News Foundation.
The AP-GfK poll finds that Clinton has secured the support of 90 percent of likely Democratic voters, and also has the backing of 15 percent of more moderate Republicans.
