Top waiver wire pick ups for Week 11
Cameron Meredith, WR, Chicago Bears: Let’s move on to the aforementioned Bears and look at Meredith, who is a hot WR add right now.
WR Tyreek Hill, Chiefs (ESPN: 10%; Yahoo: 17%): Hill took advantage of Jeremy Maclin’s absence.
Injuries and a suspension have created opportunities for the next man up to step forward on several teams this week.
Terrance West of the Ravens owns a reasonable 3.9 yards per carry and 2.6 yards after contact in nine games this season, but Kenneth Dixon is officially back from injury and looked rather explosive on his 11-touch effort in week 10. We knew there would be touchdown regression from last year’s 10-score campaign, but Hurns has fallen from the must-start ranks to WR4/5 territory.
Each week we will identify three players worth taking a shot on in deeper leagues. But, Meredith gets to face the Titans, 49ers, Lions and Packers in Weeks 12-15, all of which rank in the bottom half of the league when it comes to surrendering fantasy points to opposing wide receivers. Some of these players could remain fantasy-relevant all season, while others are short-term fixes who figure to be free-agent fodder once more in a few weeks’ time.
If Pryor is going to get back on track in Week 11, he’s going to have to do it against a Pittsburgh Steelers team that has generally bullied the Browns since Cleveland’s return as an expansion team in 1999. And because that game could come at any time, it makes White a risky proposition. It gives you an idea of the potential game flow we could expect.
It wasn’t a guarantee James Starks was going to be available for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
There really isn’t much you can do about Newton unless you have a more productive quarterback riding your bench, or perhaps you have been starting him already. He won’t rack up a ton of points unless he scores, but he will get opportunities and he’s good enough for a flex spot in your lineup.
Jordan Howard, CHI… Or… Over his past four contests, however, Capela has been far more productive in his limited playing time, putting up 12.5 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 22.7 minutes.
Starks: Sure he’s just a placeholder until Eddie Lacy returns but, he’s probably gone for most of the fantasy season. Hill will also be a viable option in standard leagues, especially if he continues to develop as one of Alex Smith’s top targets. In his past three games, Matthews has had four touchdowns.
The good news here is that Pryor still holds PPR value-he has at least five receptions in each of his last three games.
The second-year pro caught 29 of 41 targets for 381 yards and two touchdowns this year, but was much more productive for the Bears than Jeffery when he caught ball, as evidenced by his 118.5 rating compared with a 63.6 rating on throws to Jeffery this season.
Brady went four-straight games with multiple touchdown passes. For those who could make late changes, it was a blessing that Lewis was declared inactive, since Bill Belichick made the decision for you.
Speaking of injuries creating opportunity, Miles started both games with Paul George sidelined for IN and while his production wasn’t outstanding IN those starts, he has a chance to put up some decent numbers this week if George remains at less than 100-percent. He has not scored a touchdown since Week 1 but he’s still getting plenty of targets and he posted 92 receiving yards against Minnesota last week.
The theme of most of the Week 10 contests were close games with insane finishes and spectacular fantasy performances as well. But that’s the dilemma – this should be a true committee with Prosise earning the majority of looks on passing downs, but don’t rule out the ‘Hawks using both backs in a single set.
While Rudolph is a top-ten tight end by season scoring, he’s been prone to not showing up at all and salvaging those days with touchdowns (see his lone one-yard reception for a touchdown in week 9 against Detroit). With matchups against the Dolphins, Bears, Jets and Falcons awaiting, he may even be a possible streaming option at some point.
