Mike Huckabee: As president, I’d consider deploying troops, Federal Bureau of Investigation to stop abortion
“I would suggest that (when) man believes that he can redefine marriage, it’s apparent that man believes he has become his own god and this is a risky place for America to be”, said Huckabee, a Southern Baptist minister.
While in Iowa, the 2016 GOP presidential hopeful was asked if he would consider deploying the military and Federal Bureau of Investigation, as well as defying the Supreme Court’s 1973 ruling in Roe v. Wade, to prevent abortions from being performed.
If Americans ignore that “the only explanation for this great republic of ours is the intervention of God’s providence, then we will never see this nation rise to its greatness again”, said Huckabee, who added, “Our laws need to reflect His”. He called the Planned Parenthood organization “butchers” rather than “responsible providers”.
“Would that be a huge controversy?” the former Arkansas governor asked of the amendments that provide for due process protections,”Yes”, he said.
Huckabee said the United States effectively surrendered to Iran in agreeing to ease economic sanctions in exchange for increased inspections and curbs on the country’s nuclear program.
The Republican presidential contender said he wasn’t comparing Obama to Adolph Hitler when he asserted that the agreement will march Israel “to the door of the oven”, in an interview with CNN’s Jake Tapper on “The Lead”.
In Iowa on Thursday, Huckabee indicated he could be open to employing the full force of the federal government, including troops, to halt legal abortions. In Huckabee’s words, he would argue that he can do this by invoking “the 5th and 14th amendments for the protection of every human being”.
