UK’s Johnson accused of offering impossible Brexit vision
She said the government meant to stick to its timetable, “and I struggle to understand how one individual who has never met the prime minister or any members of her team can then decide that the timetable is somehow off course or different”. Customs checks for people and goods arriving in the United Kingdom from the European Union are supported by 71 percent, including 55 percent who voted to stay in the bloc, the survey found, while 62 percent say visitors from the European Union should not get free health care in Britain.
The latest critic is Dutch Finance Minister Jeroen Dijsselbloem, who told the BBC on Tuesday that Johnson “is offering to the British people options that are really not available”. The British government “needs to sit down, put its cards on the table and negotiate”, he said. “We have a Brexit team with no plan for Brexit and a Prime Minister who is not prepared to answer questions on what the actual Brexit strategy is”.
Earlier, she ducked the issue altogether in answer to Mr Corbyn, saying: “We are preparing carefully for the formal negotiations. We are determined to press ahead with our plan”. For example, the so-called Norwegian model assumes that Britain would be passively adopting a large part of the European Union legislation and remain fully engaged in the system of free mobility of people in the common market. “Our plan is to go out there across the world and negotiate free trade agreements around the rest of the world”.
The Migration Observatory, at the University of Oxford, said there is no evidence yet of whether migration levels or jobs have been affected by the Brexit vote. The reign of terror unleashed by her critics, she says, is even more proof that she has to fight for what she believes in and continue to back up the U.K. High Court’s ruling.
However, Tim Farron, the leader of the Liberal Democrats and an avid support of remaining within the European Union, said: “Ultimately, the British people voted for a departure, but not for a destination, which is why what really matters is allowing them to vote again on the final deal, giving them the chance to say no to an irresponsible hard Brexit that risks our economy and our jobs”.
“The opposite does exist”.
However, the data revealed a mixed picture as numbers of those from other parts of the union in employment in Britain fell in the wake of the poll. “He’s saying things that are intelectually impossible, politically unavailable”.
British officials have been reluctant to provide details of what deal they hope to strike with the bloc.
Still, Sabine Lautenschlaeger, vice chair of the European Central Bank’s supervisory board, said many banks had already been in touch to learn more about operating in the euro area.
It says government departments may need to hire up to 30,000 civil servants to complete the mammoth task of leaving the bloc. I said: ‘OK, you’ll sell less fish and chips, but I’ll sell less prosecco to one country and you’ll sell less to 27 countries’.
