Kerry was speaking Wednesday at a United Nations climate conference in Marrakech.

The BASIC ministers who met in Marrakesh said there can be no “backtracking” on the commitments made by the developed nations and no attempts should be made to “renegotiate” the terms of the Paris Agreement.
He got a big applaud from the audience on this remark that the Paris Agreement deal has as a framework that is “built to last”.

The Obama administration pledged during the Paris negotiations to reduce US emissions by 26-28 percent from 2005 levels by 2025.
