Pakistan orders 400 Turks to leave ahead of Erdogan’s visit
Erdogan also said Turkey is seeking help from allies in dismantling Gulen’s “evil netywork”, which he claimed was also a threat to Pakistan’s security.
Cricketer-turned-parliamentarian Imran Khan also indicated that his opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (Movement for Justice) party would oppose the closure of PakTurk schools.
The Turkish President thanked the government and people of Pakistan for such hospitality.
Following the July’s failed coup effort the Turkish government has arrested tens of thousands of people suspecting to have ties to Gulen.
Under the latest draft, presented to the MHP on Tuesday, Erdogan could assume the position of “acting” executive president immediately after the referendum if the changes are approved. U.S. President Barak Obama has stated the cleric would only be extradited through a justified request and as a result of “a legal process”.
Turkey and Pakistan enjoy close historical ties.
Erdogan arrived in Pakistan on Wednesday for a two-day visit.
“The troubles experienced by our brothers and sisters in Kashmir and the increasing tension along the Line of Control have reached an extent that can not be ignored”, Erdogan said.
“The Gullen’s organization is spreading the terrorism in 120 states by means of education, NGOs and other methods”, he said.
He said there were 28 educational institutions being run in Pakistan while over 100 teaching and around 400 Turkish administrators and their families was performing duties in many cities of the country.
The organisation is suspected by Ankara of having planned an attempted coup this summer.
He also said that Western countries are assisting these elements.
Earlier, welcoming the Turkish President, Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq paid glowing tributes to the visionary leadership of Turkish Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
Erdogan says Turkey and Pakistan will jointly take care of the students studying at the educational network.
He said the two countries’ relations were deepening in diverse fields, including the economic sector.
Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that his government has made a decision to celebrate the event in “a befitting way”.
Erdogan spoke during a visit to the parliament building in Islamabad. He said a sound institutional framework is in place and also the unwavering commitment of the government to protect foreign investments.
“We will continue to seek a base for consensus with the other parties”, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim told a conference of AKP provincial heads in Ankara.
“Our inflation is down to less than 3 per cent, our interest rates are the lowest in decades, our currency is stable against worldwide currencies and our forex reserves today have increased to around $24 billion from a low of $7 billion soon after we took over the responsibility of government”, he remarked.
He said stock market remained buoyant and is regarded as one of the best performing markets of the region.
The move “will only hurt Pakistan’s children”, Amnesty International said in a statement. He expressed the hope that Pakistan will certainly overcome energy shortage by the start of 2018.
