Mr Trump has returned his complements and expressed his support for Britain’s vote to leave the European Union, calling his election victory “Brexit plus plus plus” ahead of the vote.
Writing in The Telegraph, the interim UKIP leader said: “In this country, Trump was utterly discounted and friendless.
Speaking after the meeting, Farage said, “It was a great honour to spend time with Donald Trump”.
“If I am called of course I will help – I am interested in doing the best for the country”, Farage said.
Farage has been an outspoken supporter of Trump’s campaign from the get-go, and he told the show’s host that he’s hopeful he and Trump will work together.
The controversial politician, who stepped down as leader of the right-wing populist party only to be installed as interim head after Diana James resigned, described himself as a “catalyst” for the rise in popularity of the NY businessman.
Mr Farage said he would advise him: “Come and schmooze Theresa [May], but don’t touch her, for goodness’ sake”.
Speaking from the U.S. where he plans to meet members of the president-elect’s team, the interim Ukip leader singled out Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson for criticism.
This, of course, proposes a problem or at least a question for Downing Street.
A Ukip source said Mr Farage was flying to Miami, Florida, for a private event this week and would then fly on to either NY or Washington.
Fox is said to have close contacts within the Republican Party, and as such has been tasked with reaching out to the Trump team.
