Cricketers react to Donald Trump’s victory in the US Presidential polls
In Virginia, Trump is doing well in most areas of the state outside the Washington, D.C. suburbs, but that is where Clinton’s greatest support is and the biggest counties have not fully reported.
Trump was on track to prevail in OH, a key bellwether state that has backed the losing presidential candidate only once since 1944.
But he said no one at the White House would be using the popular vote to make excuses or question the legitimacy of the Trump presidency.
In remarks that bore no ill will nor negativity to the president-elect or the often caustic campaign, Clinton spoke of the vibrant diversity and creativity that defined her electoral base and espoused the values of constitutional democracy that protect the rule of law and afford equal rights and opportunity to all. His soaring popularity among white voters without a college degree was essential to his capturing the Rust Belt.
“We have seen that our nation is more deeply divided than we thought, but I still believe in America and I always will”, she said.
Trump’s surge in working-class regions was evident in places such as Mahoning County, Ohio.
He won Ohio, Florida and North Carolina.
It’s unclear whether Trump, a highly unusual candidate, will embrace numerous traditions of the presidency.
There were similar divides in views on whether the US should deport people who are in the country illegally. That put the Tar Heel State and its 15 electoral votes back in the Republican column – securing one of the pivotal states that Trump needs for victory.
It was a pattern that repeated across the region.
Earlier, at the food court located underneath the hall where Clinton had been expected to write her name in the history books, two young women sobbed, and the alcohol was free-flowing. In Lackawanna County, Pa., for example, the county that includes Scranton, where Vice President Joe Biden grew up, Clinton fell some 23,000 votes short of Obama’s mark.
Although he lacks government experience and has, in recent years, spent as much time running beauty pageants and starring in reality television as he has running his property empire, Trump – at 70 – will be the oldest man to ever become president.
And the air beneath his wings came from surprise modelling miscalculations by the Clinton machine and most independent pollsters; and the emergence of what we were told didn’t exist – a game-changing army of “shy” or Brexit-like Trump voters.
Yet there were signs that Republicans who previously vowed never to support Trump were willing to give him a chance moving forward.
GOP control of Capitol Hill would, in conventional circumstances, be a luxury for a newly inaugurated Republican president.
Trump led in northeastern and central Pennsylvania.
He has pledged to protect Social Security and Medicare.
Trump is projected to start his term in the White House on January 20 with the huge asset of a Republican majority projected in the Senate and House or representatives. If he fails to make good on his mega program, he will risk losing a second term at the White House.
About 6 out of 10 voters said they don’t view Clinton as honest and about the same share felt the same way about Trump.
Trump, 70, ran a controversial campaign that focused on strict immigration control, including his plan to build a wall between the US and Mexico and his controversial plan to ban on Muslims entering the U.S. Majorities of voters nationally said they oppose both ideas.
