Conor McGregor announces he’s going to become a dad

9-1 Conor McGregor is now the 9-1 in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. The UFC Featherweight and Lightweight champion confirmed the rumor that his girlfriend or possible wife – Dee Devlin is pregnant.

His victory against Alvarez broke a series of records as UFC arrived at the Garden for the first time and came back to the state of NY after a 19-year gap following a change in legislation. “I’m crapping my jocks, it’s messing with my head”. Thus, he is taking some time and is set to decide on his future soon, after the baby is born.

McGregor (21-3) had done the deed, and now he wanted the fight promotion to give him what he had earned.

“I’ve got both belts (featherweight and lightweight), a chunk of money, a little family on the way”, McGregor added. Make me an owner.

“If you want to be truly in on this then I need to be all in on this proper – as owner”. McGregor says that before he considers his next fight, he has “a million others hurdles [to get past]”. You want me to come around, stick around and service that debt and continue to push, bring me on board for real. “I need to be set for life”. I don’t want my family to be like that [a celebrity].

He had been teasing a “big announcement” in the lead up to the event, but waited until the post fight press conference to tell awaiting journalists what it was.

With two belts around his waist, McGregor knows he has the most leverage any fighter has ever had.

McGregor responded “I won’t try”.

Led by president Dana White, though, there’s a clear “no fighter is bigger than the sport” mentality around the UFC. “We started throwing kicks and the kicks were successful, I would have kicked more”, he said. “Now, I celebrate as champion of two divisions”.

With the ban on mixed martial arts in the state lifted in March of this year, the UFC returned to NY after an absence of over two decades, staging a card stacked with fights and backed up by a ton of hype. “I just don’t think it’s a good idea for him to fight me”.
