Families get new members on National Adoption Day in Spokane
Courthouses in Brockton, Boston and Worcester will host speakers and adoption ceremonies.
Vanderburgh County Judge Brett Niemeier awarded adoption to many families Thursday morning, one of them being the Miles family.
Henderson said 2,400 young people are now eligible for adoption using a method called the Wendy’s Wonderful Kids “Child Specific Recruitment”.
On National Adoption Day, county courts put a big focus on adoptions to call attention to the growing need for adoptive parents.
The Pachecos of Fall River adopted their son Elijah at the event. National Adoption Day has engaged the media and thousands of families to elevate the national conversation about foster care adoption. “They’ve been in my home for nearly four years, and I’ve adopted four children”, Cook said.
More than 6,300 children in the care of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services were awaiting adoption as of September, according to the state agency. Parents Nicole and David have received guardianship of four children and adopted two more, all from their extended family after the biological parents were unable to take care of them.
“It’s an awesome feeling”.
“It’s not your typical story”, she said. Two-year-old Gabriella’s adoption was finalized.
The new families smiled and shed tears as the day some have waited years for finally arrived. “She opened her heart and her home to these kids, and they just have a huge respect for each other and a deep love”.
The Gonzalezes, of Jacksonville, were one of 10 families who added to their number Friday during Tyler’s Adoption Day event.
Needham said Gabriella will continue to have a relationship with her birth mother.
Especially the 41 kids who were officially being adopted, like 3-year-old Nyla.
Monroe County has had a total of 21 adoptions this year, and expects to finalize about 38 total by the end of 2016. “We’re here now. And she’s home”.
