Jerry Jones: Demoted Romo still has future with Cowboys

To the contrary, it does not appear that Romo would be a fit for the Jets.

The Dallas quarterback brought a statement, and he wasn’t going to answer any questions Tuesday. His backup, rookie Dak Prescott, came in and dominated under center for the Cowboys to the tune of an 8-1 record, and Romo recently had to accept the fact that this wasn’t his team anymore.

And a somber Romo didn’t hide his disappointment while reading the five-minute statement.

“He has earned the right to be our quarterback”, Romo said.

In all fairness to the Cowboys, they did face a Green Bay Packers team, in Week 6, that previously did rank No. 1 in rushing yards allowed. The Cowboys host Baltimore (5-4) on Sunday.

But back to the decision to start Prescott over Romo.

But Prescott had already shown promise in the preseason.

Prescott has not only done all the right things, he has said all the right things.

The study by the NFL Players Assn.-funded Football Players Health Study also recommends a short-term injured reserve for athletes recovering from a concussion, much like the system that baseball adopted five years ago. The Cowboys train has to eventually slow down and I think this is the week.
