U.S. congresswoman with Jamaican ties joins House members petitioning Trump
Donald Trump was a guest on Breitbart News Daily on November 5, 2015, a show hosted by his newly appointed chief strategist Steve Bannon. “We urge you to condemn this appointment immediately and without reservation”. Bannon left Breitbart in August to become Trump’s campaign CEO.
“The appointment of Steve Bannon, a man who promotes xenophobic, racist, and radical ideologies, is not the way to bring people together”, said Rep. Albio Sires (D-8th Dist.).
Washington state Democrats in the U.S. House delivered a unanimous verdict on Wednesday: Stephen Bannon must go. “As one of your top advisors, the White House chief strategist will help set the tone for your administration”.
“We look forward to working with the Trump administration, with all of the members of the Trump administration, including Steve Bannon, and making the US-Israel alliance stronger than ever”, Dermer said in response to a question with the Trump Campaign manager Kellyanne Conway standing on his side. Some of the letter’s recipients included American Bankers Association President and Chief Executive Rob Nichols and Independent Community Bankers of America President and Chief Executive Camden Fine.
Democrats en masse have raised hell over Bannon due to his past comments about Breitbart being the “platform for the alt-right”, coupled with some of the more controversial (to put it mildly) things that have been run on Breitbart.
“Trump said just last week he is going to be a president for all, and yet he appoints someone who discriminates against so many in this country”, a protester said.
Trump spokesman Jason Miller rejected criticism of Bannon. “Unfortunately, your appointment of Stephen Bannon, whose ties to the White Nationalist movement have been well-documented, directly undermines your ability to unite the country”, the letter read.
While the appointment of Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus draws from the GOP establishment, Bannon’s inclusion in Trump’s inner circle seems meant to echo the anti-establishment wave that swept Trump into office.
“And I think that is awful for our country”, Larsen said.
Bannon was charged with domestic violence and battery in 1996 after his then-wife, Mary Louise Piccard, said he grabbed her by the throat and arm during an argument.
“President-elect Trump told us he wants to be a President for “all Americans” and he can not do that while empowering bigotry that targets and threatens many of them”, Brown’s statement said.
