Jose – Wenger gets more respect
“I think Manchester United have been a little bit better this season than they are being given credit for”.
“We have more desire to achieve something big by winning the Premier League”.
Gary Neville is hoping that Saturday’s clash between Manchester United and Arsenal will be a closely contested affair, and has bemoaned one-way drubbings of the past that have left the neutral bored.
So, with both key forwards set to go head-to-head at Old Trafford tomorrow lunchtime, here is how Rashford and Sanchez match-up so far this campaign…
The fact that Arsene Wenger has never beaten Jose Mourinho in the league either adds to that.
This weekend, however, arguably provides Wenger with his best opportunity to finally get one over on his old adversary in the league.
He has struggled for playing time for United of late, although he started their last two games prior to the global break.
United has struggled this season in Mourinho’s first year in charge and goes into Saturday’s game in sixth place, six points behind Arsenal and eight points behind first-place Liverpool after 11 games.
United’s David De Gea and Arsenal’s Petr Cech have proven themselves as one of the most important players in their respective sides.
I have three, I think.
“That’s not what football is about, people do not enjoy that”.
“This game will be watched all over the world and what’s important is that the quality of the game is good. I also want to see great organisation, with not a lot being given away”. As a 17-year-old, flying out on a private jet to his hotel [in Switzerland during Euro 2008] was surreal but I think I made the right decision.
A war of words between Arsene Wenger should be the last thing on his mind; he should be concentrating on picking the correct squad to put on the field that he hasn’t been able to do since the start of the season.
Their relationship has been marked by public feuds since Mourinho arrived in England in 2004 – the following year he called Wenger “a voyeur”. Wenger once pushed the former Chelsea manager Mourinho on the touchline at Stamford Bridge in 2014.
That might be the reason why Wenger has had issues with Mourinho.
José Mourinho is rather accustomed when speaking to the media to throwing out random darts at players – including his own – and fellow managers.
Mourinho and Wenger have each won three Premier League titles, with Mourinho’s most recent coming in 2015 in his second stint with Chelsea.
“Luke Shaw worked well in this period where we had a very small group but he worked really well, he is ready to play, I don’t have any problem with him”.
Tomorrow is the match between the two managers with the best records in the Premier League. You have your sources, you believe your sources, you respect your sources and we have had that for 15 days, so I am not going to speak about Smalling.
