Chile clear Sanchez to play Uruguay
Arsene Wenger is hopeful Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez will be fit to take part in Saturday’s showdown with Manchester United, live on Sky Sports.
His second goal wasn’t too shabby either!
“[The manager] is the one who decides, he is the one who changes things around and decides where we play”.
Sanchez has a history for wanting to play through any pain barriers as Wenger found out to his cost nearly 12 months ago.
Just as bad as that run though, if not worse, is the awful stat that shows we have not beaten Manchester United in the league at Old Trafford since Adebayor scored the only goal of the game in 2006.
Arsenal are now 4th in the league six points ahead of 6th placed Manchester United and 2 behind leaders Liverpool.
Sanchez started and showed no signs of being hindered by his hamstring problem as he proved to be the match-winner with two superb goals to help Chile to a vital 3-1 win.
“I travel today [Wednesday] to London”, Sanchez said.
That leaves Carl Jenkinson, whose last trip to Old Trafford ended with a sending off in The Game That Must Not Be Named. Sanchez let Arsenal know by text message after the game that he was feeling “in good shape” for his return to his club.
For a brief time last week, the news reaching these shores from South America was enough to make Arsenal fans hide under their Gunnersaurus duvet-covers and cry themselves to sleep. “That is absolutely important”. He will fight for his team and I will fight for mine and that is normal. The Chile striker played for his country on Tuesday – scoring twice against Uruguay. “He always wants to play and that’s where it is a more sensitive case because he’s always ready to play even when injured”. The victor of that Champions League tie is likely to determine who finishes top of Group A and progresses to an easier tie in the knockout phase.
