Ambassador Says Israel Looking Forward to Working With Trump Team
A REPUBLICAN Jewish Coalition board member has issued a statement supporting Stephen Bannon, who has been appointed chief strategist for president-elect Donald Trump. Not surprisingly, Spencer was thrilled with the ascent of Bannon, whose backers include a bevy white nationalists and Nazis.
Historically, the appointment of the incoming president’s chief political strategist does not get much attention. That is why it is so important that he do the right thing, listen to the voices of millions of Americans, and keep Mr. Bannon far from the doors of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.
That dream died a hard death in 2008, when Barack Obama won the presidency, a watershed moment that in turn led many liberals to believe that the country’s changing demographics might give their party a lasting grip on the White House.
Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid argued the President-elect’s new senior adviser supported white supremacist views that should disqualify him from the job.
Since Sunday’s announcement that Bannon, the former head of Breitbart News Network, would be following Trump to the White House, he’s been labeled a racist, an anti-Semite and an enabler of the ‘alt-right, ‘ a term he tells the Hollywood Reporter that he hates.
Bannon’s appointment provoked widespread objection, with hundreds of thousands signing petitions denouncing his racism. That said, America needs a thoughtful, caring vision to heal divisions in our country.
“It will be as exciting as the 1930s, greater than the (president Ronald) Reagan revolution – conservatives, plus populists, in an economic nationalist movement”.
Bannon, the controversial former chairman of Breitbart News, has been holed up in an office at Trump Tower in recent days, taking a procession of meetings and phone calls as part of the transition effort. The alt-right – a loose movement that has gained prominence during this election season – promotes white nationalism and has been accused of being racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic.
The interview largely didn’t address Bannon’s previous controversies, though he denied being a “white nationalist”. To him, Trump is a radical.
“We call on President-Elect Trump to remove Steve Bannon from his position on the * a href=”https://www.facebook.com/hashtag/whitehouse?source=feed_text&story_id=1246858578709952” data-ft=”{“tn”:”*N”,”type”:104}” *#WhiteHouse team”, Congresswoman Clarke posted on Facebook.
The fact that Bannon has done everything in his power to elect Donald Trump – a man who invites the manager of his “blind trust” to closed-door meeting with foreign leaders – suggests that he may not be wholly honest in his fulminations against crony capitalism.
North Carolina Democratic State Rep. Alma Adams joined Roland Martin during Thursday morning’s edition of NewsOne Now to discuss the Democratic response to Bannon’s appointment and the signal his selection sends to the nation.
