Conor McGregor announcement: I won’t fight in UFC until THIS happens
Featherweight champion Conor McGregor capped mixed martial arts’ triumphant arrival in NY yesterday morning (Singapore time) by knocking out Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight crown. It was the first UFC event held in the venue.
McGregor was clear in his request, especially considering what UFC 205 will likely pull in financially after the event recoups even more money from pay-per-view sales. Alvarez never had a chance.
“They have got to have size, reach, length, you have got to have some attributes”.
“He’s tall, he has long arms; he’s got good timing, and if you got good timing and things like that, you can place good punches”.
“I have spent a lot time of time slating everyone in the company”. To recall, UFC 205 ended with McGregor defeating Eddie Alvarez via a knockout victory.

Despite winning the featherweight strap almost one year ago, courtesy of a first-round knockout victory over Jose Aldo, McGregor has yet to make a single defense of his 145-pound title, much to the chagrin of division contenders. The first came about one minute in, courtesy of his infamous left hand. He landed 20 strikes to Alvarez’s six, and the first round without a doubt went to the Dublin native.
The Irishman revealed after beating Eddie Alvarez to claim the lightweight belt that he will next year welcome a baby with girlfriend Dee Devlin. Being called a bum didn’t affect him; neither did the fact that New York City, a town less than two hours away from his home in Philadelphia, showered him in a chorus of boos.
“I’ve got a few announcements”. The UFC star said that the new owners have not spoken to him and the ambitious Irishman demanded that the UFC give him some equity in the company. People have shares in the company. IMG and its partners paid to purchase the UFC, and now it appears he’s ready to force the new ownership’s hand.
“Where’s my shares? Where’s my equity?”
McGregor added: “I can keep going all day but I’m aware of my worth”. That’s all I know. I don’t want no celebrity type show, I hate all that. I don’t want to be bringing a child into anything like this. “What I’ve earned.” UFC president Dana White seemed to agree with McGregor about his special status after Saturday night’s performance. You can’t say he isn’t the real deal. No one quite knew what he meant back then. The guy is special.
White said the return of the sport will have big benefits economically for NY, with more people staying in hotels, going out to eat, and using public transportation. “I’m crapping my jocks, I’m not gonna lie”.
