Obama Predicts Trump Won’t Scrap Iran Nuclear Deal as President
And Trump was harshly critical of it as he campaigned.
Leader says, “We have no judgment about this election (the USA presidential election) because America is the same America, and over the past 37 years either of the two parties which has been in office not only has done no good (to the Iranian nation), but has always been an evil to the Iranian nation”.
Meanwhile, moderate President Hassan Rouhani and his allies are playing down concerns over Trump’s rhetoric. The United States plus Britain, Russia, France, China and Germany agreed to lift sanctions if Iran would curtail its nuclear program.
Without mentioning any specific names, Rouhani said, “The world is not under the will of a single individual and party”.
“I think Donald Trump’s desire to improve relations with Russian Federation and to join forces with Russian Federation to combat ISIL (Daesh), that may undermine Republicans and the necon and the Jewish Zionist interests within the Republican Party to reestablish hegemonic policy in the Middle East and to push for regime change in Syria”, he added.
Still, there is much that Washington can do with respect to Iran, especially by more rigorously enforcing the nuclear deal and constraining Iranian expansionism.
Meanwhile, an Iranian central bank official said Iran expects to see “more rationality” on the part of Mr Trump once he assumes the role of USA president and leaves behind what was merely campaign rhetoric.
Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif chimed in to urge Trump to accept the agreement.
Anti-Israel activists are seeking to co-opt the left-wing protests that have erupted across the USA following Donald Trump’s victory over.
Trump has said on the campaign trail that he would not uphold the deal. “Their evil was always directed toward the Iranian nation”.
Tehran and Washington have not had formal diplomatic ties since 1980, when Islamist students stormed the United States embassy and held staff hostage for 444 days. These include the US-Iran war with the Islamic State.
The House approved legislation on Tuesday to renew sanctions against Iran for another decade. The measure, aiming to “halt the wholesale slaughter of the Syrian people”, and could apply to Russian Federation and Iran, said the Washington Post. Critics of the agreement said Iran was an untrustworthy partner and had been granted too many concessions.
US financial institutions had received the go-ahead in September from the Treasury Department’s Office of Foreign Assets Control to proceed with financial transactions that would permit the sale of up to 97 combined Airbus and Boeing aircraft to Iran Air, the country’s national airline. Following the deal, Iran made new agreements with both, Boeing and Airbus Group SE (EPA:AIR), to acquire new commercial jets on sale and lease basis-a deal which would result in acquisition of more than 200 commercial aircraft.
“All three – Gingrich, Bolton and Giuliani – are subversive against the Iranian regime”, said Hojjat Kalashi, a secular analyst.
