Wayne Rooney hits out at ‘disgraceful’ reaction to hotel wedding photos
Jose Mourinho believes the Football Association should have looked after Wayne Rooney better, with the Manchester United manager suggesting his captain’s late-night antics were tamer than some other England players.
Rooney made a public apology on Wednesday after images were published of the striker looking worse for wear, at the team hotel after last week’s victory over Scotland at Wembley. “I think that is the ethical answer and when we are always anxious about ethics and respect and rules, I just said that if it was me making those comments about an Everton player, I would be in trouble”.
“Chris Smalling, you can not ask about because you have your sources, you trust your sources, you write what your sources tell you and you did that for 15 days, so now you’re not going to ask me to comment on your sources’ information”, he said. All the legends you still love, all the guys you still admire drank like devils and smoked like insane and were still good players.
Arsene Wenger: “I think before a big game like this it is “Mourinho v Wenger” – but that is not what is most important”.
Indeed, it would appear that an errant bottle of Lucozade was enough to take the skipper out of action entirely…
“Everyone is entitled to a private life so we have to respect what other people do”.
Gareth Southgate claimed Rooney sought treatment for a knee injury, with Mourinho criticising the Football Association for allowing Rooney’s transgression to take place. “I really feel for the players”, said Klopp.
“In this case, we know what didn’t go well”.
“I don’t speak, I don’t speak”, Mourinho said when asked if Rooney had been let down by the people around him.
Though United have only won two Premier League games in eight, he said that the lack of respect may stem from him being too successful for his own good. “We will be reviewing our policy around free time whilst on global duty”. But having played and scored for his country in a 3-1 win over Uruguay, Sanchez came back on Thursday and was a part of the Arsenal training session on Friday.
“These guys are professional players”.
“They are fast and good one against one”. They play a lot with Christian Benteke, second balls with all the wingers, with Andros Townsend, Wilfried Zaha.
