Federations consultant says he erred in sharing comment on Bannon petition
November 18, 2016: Caribbean-American Congresswoman, Yvette D. Clarke, is among more than 30 U.S. congressional lawmakers who are urging the President-elect to rescind the appointment of Breitbart news executive Steven Bannon.
Historically, the appointment of the incoming president’s chief political strategist does not get much attention.
Now that they’re in the White House, he’s making another prediction. The alt-right – a loose movement that has gained prominence during this election season – promotes white nationalism and has been accused of being racist, Islamophobic and anti-Semitic. Right off the bat, the press release reads that Trump is appointing Trump for President CEO Stephen K. Bannon to serve as Chief Strategist and Senior Counselor to the President.
The Charlestown Democrat, who many have mentioned as a possible challenger to Baker in 2018, labeled the governor’s “wait-and-see” stance as “concerning” given Bannon’s critical reputation as a bullhorn for white nationalists.
A longtime GOP lobbyist, speaking on background, said that Bannon does not like “casualness” and that he feels an “urgency” about his beliefs. And “what we’re doing” refers to Bannon’s vision for how the right wing can consolidate the working-class vote through his brand of reactionary populism. “I’m an economic nationalist”.
Now come Bannon’s Jewish defenders, including Morton Klein of the Zionist Organization of America, Bernie Marcus of the Republican Jewish Coalition, and Alan Dershowitz. The statement did not mention Bannon by name.
“People fear that Bannon will promulgate anti-minority and anti-women viewpoints, since those were common on his website”, West said. It’s a controversial decision because of Bannon’s role as executive chairman of Breitbart News, an alternative right-wing news site that has openly criticized members of the GOP – especially newly re-nominated House Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan, R-Wisconsin. “I have a good relationship with (Vice President-elect Mike Pence) and have spoken with the president-elect briefly on the phone since the election, and I think getting people willing to work with them is really what they’re looking for”.
‘Now they’ll go centrist and build the network around Megyn Kelly, ‘ Bannon said.
“Bannon’s appointment sends the wrong message to people who have engaged in those types of activities, indicating that they will not only be tolerated, but endorsed by your Administration”.
Bannon also said that the movement created by Trump will be similar to previous periods in American history. The secretary also oversees several important economic functions, such as production of coin and currency. That is the question that the Washington Post set out to answer, but concludes that we all may have to wait and see.
