Hammers collapse ‘very hard to take’, admits Bilic
Harry Kane scored in the 89th minute and again in injury time to propel Tottenham to a 3-2 win over West Ham, maintaining the team’s unbeaten start to the English Premier League in dramatic style on Saturday.
Tottenham arrived at the Emirates Stadium before the worldwide break on the back of a poor run of form, seeking to maintain their unbeaten record in the league and return to their half of North London with a point.
Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino selected an attacking side, with Vincent Janssen partnering Kane in attack, while the Hammers had striker Diafra Sakho available for the first time this season.
Injuries have played a huge role in Tottenham’s struggles, but with Harry Kane coming back just before the worldwide break, they’ll be hoping that the young striker can work his way back into form and lead the way to get his team three points.
“It’s true that when you are close, you have in front of you a type of player like Payet in this case, it’s true that the players who are in his zone need to be aggressive, tight, try to anticipate, and not give him space to play”. This allowed Spurs a route back into the game, Harry Kane, after seven weeks out injured, converted from the spot after Mousa Dembélé was brought down by Laurent Koscielny.
West Ham had taken the lead in the first half with a Michail Antonio header, and though debutant Harry Winks levelled things up on 51 minutes, Manuel Lanzini’s penalty restored the advantage.
“It was a very even game against Arsenal a fortnight ago, and with West Ham still struggling, I can’t see anything but a Spurs win”. They are positioned 17 in the league and don’t seem to be getting better.
Tottenham Hotspur beat West Ham in the Premier League yesterday evening in what was undoubtedly the game of the day in the top-flight.
“I think we were the better side in the first half hour then we started to lose the ball quite quickly. Maybe it wasn’t our best game but sometimes it is hard an aggressive team with a good plan”.
With two minutes left on the clock, Son took the ball with his back to goal in the area, sending a low cross into the six-yard box which was parried straight to Kane by Randolph, the striker on hand to tap in for an equaliser. The Korean tricked Havard Nordtveit into tripping him with the final whistle just seconds away.
An emotional West Ham fan can not hide his disappointment after his side conceded two late goals.
“The table looks much better, we are three points off the top and 12 unbeaten from the beginning”, he added. “We should have killed the game”. “Unfortunately it wasn’t to be”. All I have seen is their penalty after the game and it was a penalty, it was a very clever move from Son. “Our player slides and Son was waiting for the contact”.
Everything points towards a Tottenham win this weekend, but West Ham have enough quality in their squad to shock the hosts if they’re concentrated in defense and effective on the counter.
“In Denmark, you are sure to play if you are good, but Ajax played you if you did not have the mentality and went 100 per cent into it”.
