Eagles at Seahawks: 3 things we learned

Wentz instantly became a fan.

Wentz said he has followed Wilson’s career and is impressed with his accomplishments that include leading Seattle to two Super Bowl appearances.

It seems that Week 11 is going to have a lot of good matches on paper. Seattle now holds a 6-2-1 record heading into this week’s game, while the Eagles are 5-4.

Making just his 10th start, Wentz brings all the size and physical tools you could ask for.

The rookie quarterback struggled for much of Sunday’s 26-15 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.

At 7-2-1, the Seahawks are a lock to qualify for the postseason barring a complete collapse.

Wilson’s decisiveness and quick release, coupled with the play-action passing, have resulted in completions on 12 of his 16 pass attempts of 15 yards or more. Wilson’s 101.5 is third-best. “You need to work on hand signals both with the O-linemen and the receivers. We’ve just got to – myself included – got to get better”.

“I think (it’s) in conjunction with Russell’s health”, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said of the offense’s surge.

But while Wentz has had some success this season, he has a long way to go to be as good as Wilson. I told him not to read any of that stuff. “A big play like that puts you right back in the football game”.

Wentz and Wilson are both athletic and can move around, but where Wilson is a very capable runner – he’s rushed for almost 2,500 yards with a 5.6 average in his career – Wentz runs only as a last resort.

The Seahawks finished with 439 total yards – the third time this year the Eagles have allowed more than 400 yards – and had three drives inside the Philadelphia 30 that resulted in just six points.

Agholor’s penalty perplexed fans because he could have checked with the referee before the snap to ensure he was in the right position. “But I should have checked with the line judge first”. That’s not me. Never in the game of football will I ever try to do that.

Still, if those two can not play it will be big loss to overcome.

What might not be as fun for Wentz is the environment inside Seattle’s stadium.

Thomas Rawls has been out because of an injury for much of the regular season. Seattle’s defense will take advantage of the fact that he is a rookie and will come through with two huge forced turnovers.

Only seven of those 38 opposing QBs threw more than one touchdown pass.

The game took a brutal toll with injuries. I need to give my energy to my teammates and this organization and not myself, and feeling so pressured to make every single thing. The Seahawks have won two straight to get to 6-2-1 while the Birds have been mostly up and down since starting 3-0 and sit at 5-4. “We just have to be a little more aware in those situations”.

That’s 859 yards in the last two games for Seattle, just as Wilson is as healthy as he’s been since the first half of the opening game.

“We have not lost confidence in [Agholor]”. We always believe that we can get the job done, no matter the circumstances. “He’s been kind of getting an easy walk through this league”, Sherman said.
