Rashad Jennings tops 100 yards as Giants beat Bengals
A road game on Monday night against a winning team was an opportunity for the Bengals to reach.500 for the season.
Despite being just 24-years-old, Odell Beckham Jr.is on top of the NFL.
Following Monday’s frustrating loss to the New York Giants, the Bengals fell in every power ranking heading into Week 11.
As for the actual fourth down play, the Giants took exactly what the Bengals gave them, and made use of it. While that may be an overreaction at this point, saying they’ll return to the playoffs for the first time since 2011 isn’t.
Eli Manning threw three touchdown passes, with the biggest being a 3-yard toss to rookie Sterling Shepard on a fourth-and-goal early in the fourth quarter with NY trailing 20-14.
“We like the position we’re in”. I’m going to go out there and work and find a way to get better. “We can’t relax for a second”. We are not finishing these games. I’m proud of the way the team is fighting. Sterling Shepard’s three-yard scoring reception in the fourth quarter wiped out Cincinnati’s 20-14 lead. “He tells me to be aggressive with my play, my checks and take shots when we got it, so hey, that’s what he likes and we like to get completions, but we like to get through our shots and get to some things and we got to a few of them today”.
The key to this one was McAdoo’s decision to play for a TD early in the fourth. McAdoo offered no real update on him, other than that the Giants will “see what he can do” on Thursday.
When Beckham was spiraling, it was fairly asked why the Giants bother to put up with him. “I don’t know why”. The Giants began the fourth quarter within an earshot of the end zone.
But as much as McAdoo is willing to let his players dream about a championship, he’s not willing to let them look ahead. The point after the touchdown brought the score to the final count.
Victor Cruz, who missed Monday night’s victory over the Cincinnati Bengals, is expected to practice on Thursday for the New York Giants, head coach Ben McAdoo said on Monday.
The Bengals are 3-5-1.
That lead was in danger of collapsing going into the fourth quarter. Overall, the Giants’ pass rush finished with three sacks, seven passes defensed, and one interception in what was yet another productive showing.
The Giants held a 14-10 halftime lead, but the Bengals started quickly by taking advantage of their first possession when play resumed.
The offense rushed for a team total 122 yards on 27 attempts, which helped open up the passing game for quarterback Eli Manning. The stat line was impressive – 10 catches, 97 yards, and a touchdown – but the impact he had on the game loomed even larger.
After New York took the lead Landon Collins picked off an Andy Dalton pass intended for tight end Tyler Krotft. Giants OL Brett Jones, making his first career start in place of Justin Pugh at left guard, suffered a calf strain on the Giants’ opening drive. Return specialist Dwayne Harris did not play in the second half after hurting his toe.
“This defence is a Super Bowl defence”, Beckham said.
“The second half of the season is usually when you see the running game starting to get some synchronicity”.
Bengals: Host the Bills on Sunday. All four of those interceptions have come in the last three games, all of which the Giants have won.
