‘Fantastic Beasts’ Can’t Match The ‘Potter’ Films But Nabs $75M Debut
Eddie Redmayne says that he’s a proud member of Hufflepuff House in a new Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them MTV video available on YouTube. It’s set in 1926 New York City and stars Eddie Redmayne as expelled Hogwarts student Newt Scamander, who travels with his case of fantastic beasts.
We switch to the remains of buildings in NY where wizarding investigator Mr. Graves (Colin Farrell) makes his way through the police and others reporting darkness and intense winds, with a pair of glowing eyes at the center.
Gellert Grindelwald, the second most notorious wizard to Valdermort, has escaped and is wreaking havoc on the moguls.
Box Office: “Fantastic Beasts” debuts to magical $75 million was posted in Entertainment of TheNews International – https://www.thenews.com.pk on November 21, 2016 and was last updated on November 21, 2016. Director David Yates and composer James Newton Howard, both of whom worked to create the atmosphere of Harry Potter as we know it, also aided in the production of “Fantastic Beasts”.
Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them has something for everyone, from the casual moviegoer to the hardcore Potterheads out there.
More worryingly, those characters don’t necessarily invite devotion. If you’re expecting another “Harry Potter” movie, prepare for disappointment.
Despite being super short, it does cover all eight Harry Potter films and it does so with the help of Legos, which is just adorable. It’s all damn pretty. It’s particularly inconvenient when Newt’s creatures are accidentally set loose across the city.
Scamander (played by Oscar victor Eddie Redmayne) is both off-putting and agreeable at the same time, loving his creatures so heartily that you can’t help but wish you too had a tiny, adorable, poisonous monster living in your carry on. “You’ll find he is a whiz of a Wiz if ever a Wiz there was”. The four main characters team up to track down creatures like a dragon that can change its size based on the environment it’s in, a massive rhino-like beast who happens to be in heat, and a small platypus-like creature that loves shiny jewels and coins. The man just wants to bake. It’s no coincidence that Miller starred across Hermione (Emma Watson) in “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” (2012) and stars as the titular superhero in the upcoming flick “The Flash” (2018). I just said, ‘Right, tell me about Newt.’ I’ve played real people with historical information available about them, like Stephen Hawking [in The Theory of Everything] and Lili Elbe [in The Danish Girl], and there was a lot of intense research around those roles. She wouldn’t use magic, but she couldn’t get rid of it.
As for where the Fantastic Beasts series goes from there, Redmayne isn’t sure, saying that “different actors know different amounts” on how everything ends. If you own them already, you’ve got everything that you need. All the supporting characters are likeable and charming, so watching her proverbially crap on them over and over again makes this a mixed bag. Let’s sit back and enjoy the ride with plenty of popcorn. So how did we get what was once three, but now five, films out if it?
The film cast a big shadow over the weekend’s other new wide releases, none of which cracked the top five (see list below).
