England run riot against outclassed Fiji
The Red Rose racked up their 11th win in succession by seeing off Fiji in style on Saturday afternoon, earning a 58-15 victory at Twickenham to ensure that Jones remains unbeaten since taking charge a year ago.
England made it 12 successive wins, and 11 of those coming since Jones took over the reins after the World Cup failure.
England, one victory away from its longest-ever winning run, faces the Wallabies on December 4.
The disparity has irked many worldwide but Naholo says it is not Fiji’s players who are bleating and they are offended by any suggestion they place money ahead of national honours.
“If we can improve what needs to be improved then that is a sign of a good team”.
“Playing them at Twickenham is always a very exciting prospect”.
“That’s part of the process we’re trying to engage in at the moment, to make our team like that”.
Meanwhile, hooker Sunia Koto will become only the fourth Fijian to play 50 tests for the national rugby team.
“We see some of our most experienced players returning”, coach John McKee said.
The England RFU will give its Fiji counterpart $NZ132, 000 as a “goodwill gesture”. Owen Farrell fed Jonathan Joseph who found a big gap and charged over.
Daly emerged as the star of England’s record victory over Fiji in seven meetings, celebrating his second Test start by proving he is as comfortable on the wing as at outside centre with a brilliantly-taken try that tied Fiji in knots. “It’s difficult when you’ve had a hard personal experience like he did”.
Fiji-born Semesa Rokoduguni will win his second cap.
He remarked: “England at Twickenham is the game Fiji will have targeted on their tour”.
Jones promised stick-it-up-your-jumper rugby – or fish and chips as he called it – but England also showed glimpses of champagne stuff. Nadolo burst over and his side were on the board.
Stunned Fiji fought back through Nemani Nadolo and Leone Nakarawa to make it 34-10 at the break as England’s defence was exposed.
Suddenly Fiji were awake and a real threat. Back the ball came, and fullback Alex Goode scored England’s sixth try from an overlap. They will look to get the ball moving quickly, and will be hoping for a loose, fragmented game that allows them to exploit space and gaps in England’s defense.
Jones believes that by denying the Pacific Islanders the opportunity to play their natural game, which is based upon athleticism, creativity and dazzling running lines, they will eventually lose focus to the benefit of his Grand Slam champions.
“Eddie has spoken to me a lot about being ready because the doors would open up and that my chance would come”.
