Cousins, Redskins light up Packers in high-flying 42-24 rout
On occasion, Rodgers even runs.
This evening, the Green Bay Packers try to return to the.500 mark on Sunday Night Football. The injuries are borderline unbelievable at this point, and certainly a big reason for the team’s struggles, but they’re a part of the game.
Rodgers can’t be a one-man team.
Then came a play from Packers’ Jared Cook – who was able to pull in a 29-yard pass from QB Aaron Rodgers on third-and-three. Kirk Cousins, their $20 million franchise tagged quarterback is capable tossing deep dimes in on a cold, windy night.

Washington Redskins wide receiver Jamison Crowder (80) pulls in a touchdown pass un pressure from Green Bay Packers cornerback Quinten Rollins (24) during the second half of an NFL football game in Landover, Md., Sunday, Nov. 2.
The result was a highly entertaining game highlighted by performances of highly effective quarterbacks. Then he talked about how “all 32 teams are talented” in the National Football League, and how “every [team] is good”. But Cousins got it on a sneak.
Packers linebacker Clay Matthews is also active Sunday night; he sat out the past three games with a hamstring injury. “I’m always being evaluated”. He ties you up in the run game, and he’s tough.
Cousins, who could not agree on a long-term contract with the Redskins during the past offseason, can get better.
So it’s fitting that Sunday night’s conclusion looked nothing like those awkward heart-stoppers.
Let me overpay him if he’s good. He is not the same quarterback who led his team onto FedEx Field for that January 11 wild card game, when he completed 29 of 46 passes for 329 yards and just one touchdown, fumbling once and being sacked six times while failing to move his offense into the end zone.
The Washington Redskins (5-3-1) are fresh off a statement victory over the Minnesota Vikings at home in Week 10. They also need to avoid the momentum-sapping late scores that have also plagued them near the end of second quarters of recent games.
The Redskins keep saying they want Cousins to stick around for a long time. They just hope that they can control and contain him. “It’s because of those guys making some push”. The drive began at the Green bay 43 yard line. Washington turned Nelson’s fumble into seven more points with Kelley’s third rushing touchdown, extending its lead to 42-24. A good chunk of that came on the 70 yard score, but that was a great play in and of itself. Long snapper Rick Lovato was signed to the roster on Saturday to take Sundberg’s spot in the kicking game. During that stretch, Cousins has thrown for 1,021 yards with five touchdowns and just one interception, leading Washington to a 1-1-1 record. With the game on the line with just over six minutes left and the Redskins leading by five Gruden chose to go for it on fourth and one at the Washington 41. I don’t think I could throw the ball 10 yards into that thing, but he spun it. “He calls a pretty good game”. Mastering the wind was nothing he had given a lot of thought. “I’m speechless”, safety Micah Hyde said. The last two bombs were into the teeth of a fourth-quarter wind strong enough to sell Gruden on trying for two on a first-half touchdown, and to knock away a Mason Crosby field goal and a Dustin Hopkins extra-point try.
