Line Between Transition, Company Blurred by Trump Children
Despite statements to the contrary, President-elect Donald Trump continues to utilize the Twitter universe to respond to and comment on news stories concerning his administration as he proceeds with his transition to the presidency.
The Esquire profile opens with a lengthy anecdote about a vendetta Kushner pursued using the power of the newspaper he owns (the New York Observer), which his daddy bought for him. It has already been claimed that Kushner will take a voluntary role with assising Trump as President. People linked to Christie have been purged from the team – including former MI congressman and House Intelligence Committee Chairman Mike Rogers – and acolytes of Sessions were elevated.
New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
“The President-elect’s request of top secret security clearances for his children must be reconsidered”, Rep. Bennie Thompson (D-Mississippi), the ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, said in a statement. “I may”, she said of a possible White House role. I don’t buy the argument that Christie flunked some kind of loyalty test. “Jared was incredibly important to our campaign effort and to the election”. Trump has been accused over the course of the campaign of trafficking in anti-Semitic themes. But Trump thanked Christie for his support since then. “He’s not looking to grandstand anywhere”, Scaramucci said. “I know when to be presidential”.
The most notable recent example, however, was in 1993, when Bill Clinton appointed First Lady Hillary Clinton as the chair of the president’s Task Force on National Health Care Reform, sparking a lawsuit in DC federal court. You’d then have a situation in which the Russian dictator has, through a proxy, deposited millions or even tens of millions of dollars into the bank account of the president of the United States. But he also believes that to rely that heavily on immediate family is “offputting for a lot of people”.
Anti-nepotism laws prevent presidents from appointing family members to any official positions within their administrations, so Kushner’s potential post is unclear but likely to take the form of an unpaid advisor role.
Jared Kushner and his wife Ivanka Trump walk through the lobby of Trump Tower in New York, Friday, Nov. 18, 2016. As Kushner’s influence grows, the team that Christie built is now being effectively dismantled, leading to delays in the selection process. “We are very pleased that justice was done”.
Heller said the Kushners have donated more than $100m to universities, hospitals and charities, adding, “Jared Kushner was an excellent student in high school and graduated from Harvard with honors”.
“My dad’s arrest made me realize I didn’t want to be a prosecutor anymore”, he said. If you’re convicting murderers, it’s one thing.
Despite never having held an official position in politics, Kushner worked to become one of Trump’s closest advisers and is now heavily involved in the decisions being made by Trump’s transition team.
Not only had the elder Kushner admitted filing false tax returns and campaign finance reports, he also acknowledged hiring a prostitute to seduce his sister’s husband so the encounter could be filmed by private detectives in his employ. According to CBS News, the offer to be Trump’s running mate was reportedly given to Christie at one point – but was rescinded because “others in [Trump’s] inner circle convinced him otherwise”. It has been widely reported that Kushner was behind the firing of New Jersey governor Chris Christie and others associated with him, a “bloodletting” that was said to create a certain amount of disarray.
Now, Schwartz tells NPR she is if anything more anxious but clings to the hope Kushner will be a moderating force on Trump. The transition team now needs to provide names of those authorised to represent it, said White House spokeswoman Brandi Hoffine in an email. Hopefully they’ll get that settled pretty soon. “Plus you’re trying to set up an administration for someone with no governmental experience and who operates a lot on whim and impulse. He was going to marry a woman who had the right pedigree”.
