Thompson’s splashy scoring leads Warriors past Pacers 120-83
The Golden State Warriors travel to IN to face the Pacers.
The Warriors return to Oakland for the start of a home-and-home against Luke Walton’s young, fun Lakers.
Lowry led Toronto with 27 points and DeMar DeRozan added 25. The Warriors are averaging 120.7 points over the last seven contests as Stephen Curry, Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson each have shot better than 50 percent from the floor during the streak and combined for nearly 80 points per game. Durant scored only two third-quarter points but had four assists in the period. It was almost 22, too, as moments later, Curry got the ball at the opposing free throw line and fired up a 70-foot heave that dropped, much to the pleasure of the crowd, which was filled with #30 Curry jerseys. Antetokounmpo had with 21 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Andre Iguodala contributed ten points off the bench.
INJURY UPDATE: Warriors: C Damian Jones (R pectoral surgery recovery) has been designated for the D-League affiliate Santa Cruz Warriors. They have managed to balance their line-up, although they do have several superstars. “We get the news right before the game that Myles would be out, and we knew Paul and C.J. would be out, and it was going to be a huge challenge to beat this team – even at full strength”.
Klay Thompson starred as the Golden State Warriors eased past the Indiana Pacers in National Basketball Association action on Monday, while the streaking San Antonio Spurs rolled on.
The Indiana Pacers, a day after picking up their most impressive win of the season over the Oklahoma City Thunder, were blessed Monday by the National Basketball Association schedule: They were required to host the potent, rested and healthy Golden State Warriors.
Warriors: Finished 13 of 36 on 3-pointers, with six players making at least one. Glenn Robinson III had some nice moments, scoring eight with a pair of threes, but was overwhelmed in being expected to guard Kevin Durant. Durant also finished with two double-doubles and, along with Draymond Green, was a consistent presence at the rim, helping cast doubt on the idea that Golden State needs to add another center to solve it’s problems on the defensive end. It worsened an already hard situation for IN: A night after outlasting the Thunder IN overtime, the Pacers were without three of their top four scorers IN Turner, Paul George (ankle) and C.J. The Pacers were without Paul George and Myles Turner and battling injuries.
In Philadelphia, Joel Embiid had 22 points, including four late free throws, to lead Philadelphia over Miami.
STANDOUT PERFORMER: As good as Thompson and Curry were – shooting a combined 17-of-29, including 6-of-16 from 3-point range – Green earns the honor for his comprehensively potent performance.
Led by seven from Green, the Warriors outrebounded IN 31-24 IN the opening half. “We’ve got to limit our mistakes”.
The Warriors completed the sweep of their four-game road trip by breezing past a short-handed Pacers squad by way of a 120-83 rout at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
March 13, 2016: After winning three consecutive games, the Pacers saw their streak snapped by the Atlanta Hawks, in a bruising 104-75 loss on the road.
