Naomi Campbell Pleads Guilty After Assaulting Paparazzo, Sentenced to Six
Back in 2007, Campbell served a five-day community service sentence stemming from an incident where she threw a cell phone at her housekeeper, resulting in injury.
A court in Sicily sentenced Campbell to a six month suspended prison term for whacking a photographer in the head with her handbag and scratching his eye.
Back in August 2009, she and her boyfriend at the time, Vladimir Doronin, were on a yacht trip on the island of Lipari when paparazzo Gaetano Di Giovanni took some pictures of them strolling through the streets sight-seeing. While the photographer took photographs of the couple touring the city, Naomi suddenly turned around ad hit his face with her purse.
E! News adds that Naomi intends to appeal with her lawyer Guido Carlo Alleva saying in a statement: “We are appealing the ruling surrounding the 2009 incident”.
“I had just started taking some shots of her and I did not expect such a violent reaction“, Gaetano said in 2013, when Naomi was ordered to stand trial.
Giovanni sought medical treatment after the attack, and it took several days for him to recover, the courts heard.
But prosecutor Francesco Massara ordered the trial to go ahead in the public interest because of the gravity of the charges against her, Italy’s national news agency Ansa said.
Of course, this isn’t the first run in with the law for the hotheaded supermodel.
