Could Trump’s Son-In-Law Get Key White House Role?
In 2007, Kushner graduated from New York University where he earned his J.D. degree and his M.B.A. degree; his father had previously made a $3 million donation to NYU in 2001.He interned at Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau’s office. People are watching and wondering which way Kushner will go.
In 2001, the Federal Election Commission investigated Mr. Kushner’s father, Charles Kushner, and his business associates, including Jared Kushner and other family members, for violating campaign finance laws.
Shortly after Gov. Chris Christie launched his campaign for president in 2015, a lavish fundraiser took place at a block-long beachfront property on Ocean Avenue in Long Branch – but for the benefit of another candidate. While Donald Trump was the public face of the campaign, Kushner was working quietly behind the scenes to ensure that Trump connected with as many voters as possible. New Jersey Governor Chris Christie was unceremoniously removed from President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, and a November 17 report says political experts believe it’s because Christie convicted Ivanka Trump’s father-in-law back in 2004.
There have been other troubling signs in Trump’s bumpy appointment process where front-runners for high-level jobs simply lack the background for such positions.
Although Blair could not join the White House, technically he could advise the administration. His team believes it can skirt the familial ban by having Kushner serve as an unpaid adviser, a position that would give the wealthy 35-year-old the responsibilities and access of a presidential adviser, just without the government paycheck. Most obvious: it opens up the family, the organizational structure, and the business itself to accusations of favoritism.
However, experts say the interpretation of the law could allow for Trump to have “wiggle room” should he choose to bring Kushner on board. Either way, he can not have a role in it until he holds a formal post in the new government.
He also is weighing the option of maintaining an influential role informally, without an official White House post, according to people familiar with his thinking. Like Trump, Kushner followed in the footsteps of a real estate powerhouse father.
If we learned anything from his candidacy throughout the course of this year’s campaign, Trump is not someone who surrounds himself with high-level policy specialists, as have past candidates who won the presidency. But the company is already falling short of internal projections.
Unfortunately for President-elect Donald Trump’s transition team, it hasn’t been an easy process. Kushner has emerged as the “go-to man” in this transition process that is now underway. “Internal decisions are being described as a knife fight so that doesn’t inspire a lot of confidence about how things are proceeding”, West said.
In a radio interview this week, Christie said he has “every intention” of remaining governor until his term ends in January 2018, although he also would consider a position in the Trump administration if he’s asked. Kushner is also chief executive of the NY real estate company that bears his family name.
Oscar was valued at $2.7 billion in February, according to the Journal. A grand jury handed up indictments against Kushner for a scheme to entrap his brother-in-law with a prostitute and then blackmail him by mailing the ensuing videotape to his own sister. Jared Kushner’s net worth is now $200.0 million and that’s sure to grow, even if he takes a formal role in Trump’s new cabinet.
Kushner, who is married to the billionaire businessman’s daughter Ivanka, was dining in a restaurant in the city when Blair stopped by.
“People can play ignorant, blame the corrupt liberal media for trying to “get” Trump”, she wrote, “but it takes only a basic knowledge of world history or an understanding of how symbols work to see a wall of cash, a Star of David, and the accusation of corruption and not see the subtext”.
