Sony Music Canada shared on their Facebook page the news confirming the 82-year-old’s death.

His death was confirmed by his son who said his father passed away peacefully at his home in Los Angeles. Details have yet to be released, however, his biographer Sylvie Simmons told the Washington Post that Cohen died at his Los Angeles home.

In 1995, he took a break from music to live in silence as a Buddhist monk, but returned in full force in 2008 when he began to tour again.
