Raiders return from Mexico City with playoff hopes growing
Houston Texans quarterback Brock Osweiler was targeted with a laser pointer during the second quarter of Monday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders at Estadio Azteca.
Almost 80,000 fans came to see the Raiders defeat the Houston Texans in a 27-20 win Monday night in what felt like a Raiders home game.
This was ruled not to be a first down.
Osweiler didn’t blame the laser pointer on the loss, and Texans head coach Bill O’Brien would not comment on the laser either. It still is hard to believe they actually won that game because even the next day it feels like a totally stolen game.
Mexicans loudly celebrated the NFL’s long-awaited return to their country on Monday, wearing sombreros, donning skull masks and blaring a controversial chant as the Raiders defeated the Houston Texans 27-20.
“It’s hugely important for us to bounce back from what we just did and get prepared for what’s next”.
The NFL’s worldwide chief Mark Waller said Monday’s game will be a test run with a view to returning to Mexico City next year.
While the atmosphere was electric, the field was a bit slippery leading to some falls and the high elevation 7,380 feet above sea level played a factor. One game where Carr threw for 500 yards, I thought our defense played a very tough football game.
After struggling on third down all night, the Raiders got a stop on Houston’s next drive, and the Raiders got the ball back with 3:02 to play. “I could not say that made the difference, but definitely having a laser pointing at your eye undoubtedly affects how you play a game”. I’m just a third-year coach in the NFL. So in the last three games we’ve done a good job against the run, but last night their running backs did a good job about us in the passing game.
“Having that trigger man that can make those kinds of plays is everything”, Del Rio said. Houston handed off to Lamar Miller on third-and-2 from the Raiders’ 16-yard line. “We got an opportunity late in the game to seize control and we did”. According to SB Nation, the chant was deployed during Texans kicking attempts (field goal, extra point, kickoffs, punts) by a mostly pro-Raiders crowd.
“We wanted to be aggressive”, he said.
Winners of two straight games and three out of four, the Indianapolis Colts have climbed their way back into the race for the AFC South championship.
Cooper put the Texans away on Oakland’s ensuing possession as inside linebacker Benardrick McKinney over-pursued the gifted wide receiver during his 35-yard touchdown catch.
‘I felt like we needed a touchdown there and obviously we did, ‘ O’Brien said.
The Texans played some inspired defense, including a pair of goal-line stands where Clowney and the front seven kept the Raiders out of the end zone.
