Chelsea wins sixth straight, leads League
We don’t forget the past.
The team has gotten its swagger back after ending last season as the worst title defenders in the Premier League era – they finished the season in 10th place.
“When you finish 10th, it means you have problems”.
The 23-year-old Middlesbrough defender gave as good as he got for much of the Premier League clash, but saw the Spain worldwide snatch a victory which sent the Blues to the top of the table with the game’s only goal.
The Brazil worldwide told Chelsea TV: “It’s important to finish at the top of the league”. But we need to understand it’s just the beginning.
No magic wand?? Such lies!
Diego Costa’s first half strike secured a 1-0 win at the Riverside which extended the Blues’ recent run to six league victories, all of them negotiated without conceding a goal.
“It’s normal to fight for the best position of the table”.
The Blues are now top of the Premier League by one point, but Conte is urging his charges to remain focused and not ease up, with so much of the season still to be played.
“In three days you can recover, very well, but maybe it can be an advantage for us”, Alonso told reporters.
“After we had two defeats against Liverpool and then Arsenal, it wasn’t simple to believe we’d have six wins a row without conceding any goals”, Conte said.
Boro has forced draws against Arsenal and Pep Guardiola’s City this season, but after falling behind it rarely looked like troubling Chelsea’s three-man back line. “We mustn’t forget our hard month we had one month ago”.
“I think we are working very well. You do not have such excellence in any other league in the world”.
Mauricio Pochettino’s Tottenham picked up their first league win since the start of October by coming from behind to dispatch West Ham, while Ronald Koeman’s Everton needed a late Seamus Coleman header to rescue a point against bottom of the table Swansea.
A lack of cutting edge proved to be their undoing again.
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte was effusive in his praise of Costa before the game, labelling the Spain worldwide as “one of the best strikers in the world”.
The next two matches coming up for Chelsea are vital that they win if they are going to be considered genuine title contenders. It has definitely helped me that we are not in Europe and that I had the entire team available all week when I had just started.
