Packers claim former Texas A&M RB Christine Michael off waivers
He also caught 20 passes for 96 yards.
The Packers were expected to be one of Michael’s chief suitors as they have had trouble running the ball all season, mainly down to injury. Jackson was inactive Sunday versus Tennessee, but the team never listed any injury for him. Christine Michael isn’t the best of the best, but he’s a solid running back that can run well behind a good line. Then, rookie C.J. Prosise emerged over the past three weeks as a preferred choice.
Michael returned to the Seahawks in December, rushing for 192 yards in three games.
Yesterday, the Seahawks chose to release Michal from its roster.
According to a scout familiar with Michael, talent isn’t an issue. One scout said Wednesday that Michael was still learning how to be a pro four years into his career. It is safe to say the Packers defense could be in for a long night. In order to do that, they need a firm running back.
Immaturity has been Michael’s biggest problem. It’s possible the Seahawks will see Michael again this season as they will play at Lambeau Field Dec. 11.
He adds, “That’s the way games are”. You get paid the further you go, too, so, in hindsight, they took money from you as well.
The Redskins play the Dallas Cowboys next week on Thanksgiving. Largely, the unit is playing well, particularly in the second half of games. Lacy averaged 5.1 yards on his 71 carries before he was placed on IR. Washington’s top running back has been Matt Jones, but he was benched last game, He has just shy of 500 yards on the ground this season. The team has used wide receivers Ty Montgomery and Randall Cobb, both of whom have also battled injuries, in the backfield. He missed practice Wednesday, but it was because of an illness and not something sickle-cell-related.
As for Michael, the odds of the fourth-year back being able to contribute in a meaningful way right away seem low. The hope is he will help deliver the balance the failed trade with Kansas City last month for Knile Davis didn’t provide. So when Coach Mike doesn’t have exactly the game that he may have wanted play-calling, I’m sure it beats him up. “I remember previous year (cornerback) Sam Shields pulled all the DBs together, and he said, ‘Whatever (defensive coordinator) Dom (Capers) plays, we’re just going to play it”. “There’s nothing like live action”. All of those numbers would lead Packers running backs.
“He’ll be better this week”.
“You always get excited about an extra little bonus”.
