Oregon police investigating shooting near bridge during Trump protest

Thousands chanted “not my president” in New York City as they marched toward the Trump Tower, with similar protests taking place in several cities including Chicago, Los Angeles and Washington DC.
A few hundred people gathered outside CNN’s Los Angeles headquarters in a peaceful protest.
On Saturday, demonstrators gathered in big cities like NY and Los Angeles, as well as in smaller places like Worcester, Massachusetts, and Iowa City, Iowa. Other protests are expected Sunday in San Francisco and Philadelphia. Friday’s rally was called, “Stop Trump Royal Oak”. “I felt like we didn’t do what we should have done to protect them”. A mostly peaceful protest in Indianapolis turned violent toward then end when a couple of protesters clashed with police.
Police say 17 people have been arrested in Portland, Oregon, since protests began.
City officials in Portland spoke out against the violence Thursday night that ended in the protest being declared a riot.
A protester has been shot during an anti-Donald Trump demonstration in Portland, Oregon, police have said.
Police said a shooter was in a vehicle on a bridge that spans the Willamette River and that there was a confrontation with someone in the protest march.
“Officers near the scene arrived quickly and provided medical aid until an ambulance arrived to transport the victim to a Portland hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries”.
Evelyne Werzola, 46, an immigrant from South Africa, said she had seen what a police state could do.
Two 18-year-old men were arrested and charged with attempted murder and unlawful use of a weapon, police said. Riggs says that of seven arrests, four were from Indianapolis and three from out of town. Leader Greg McKelvey said the group would not march and the group stayed at City Hall while other protesters splintered into other groups.
In Atlanta, protesters marched peacefully, as was the case elsewhere.
This came with much criticism, as many failed to buy into the inklin of the sudden “changed persona” of Mr Trump, after he had made various obnoxious statements all through his campaign trail. The Los Angeles Police Department warned that students from several local schools were planning to walk out from their classes Monday.
