A chilly Monday in store for Shelter Island
Forecast models right now are suggesting a strong line of storms and heavy rain on Tuesday, but we’re still seeing some issues with timing.
The big travel day for the Thanksgiving holiday is nearly here, and if you are traveling around New England on Wednesday the forecast is looking good. If you’re traveling east on Wednesday, rain and storms will be impacting locations from Chicago to New Orleans. Winter Weather Advisory goes into effect for counties in northern PA overnight into the morning. This will be the wettest day of the week. Light Southwest wind switching to the Northwest late in the day. Another moves in Friday and lingers through Saturday. Clouds will once again keep temperatures down a bit, but even a little sunshine could let us reach the mid-50s. Tonight will be cloudy and seasonable with lows in the mid 30s. The Miami Valley enjoyed dry and mild weather for Thanksgiving in 2015, with temperatures in the 60s. The system moving in late Wednesday is bringing quite a bit of moisture to OR and the Cascades. “Snow totals on Thursday alone could be between 6″ & 12”. Additional weaker weather systems possible over the weekend as ridging attempts to develop over the eastern Pacific.
Snow levels bounce around this week for Central Oregon.
Rain is expected to move into the area Sunday night and continue into Monday, with a high of 48 on Monday. Those averages are afternoon highs of 50 and overnight lows of 30.
Passing snow flurries and snow showers north and west of the city are possible Monday, particularly in areas of higher elevation. Tuesday night: Rain before 10 p.m., then showers. It will be around 27 degrees Wednesday night.
A north wind will gust up to 20 miles per hour.
Thursday Night: A chance of rain. Low around 43. South wind around 9 miles per hour.
