Manchester United unveil new adidas kit for 2015/16 season
The £750million contract sees the Red Devils boast the richest kit deal in football history.
Manchester United have unveiled their new adidas home kit and it is reminiscent of their shirts of the 1980s and 90s.
Louis van Gaal’s team begin the new Premier League season at home to Tottenham on 8 August and will return to the Champions League this season after missing out in 2014-15 for the first time in 19 years.
The new kit, which takes inspiration from the classic three-stripe United kits from the 1980’s, features a V-neck collar and a similar three-stripe design down the shoulder. This deal also broke the record for the biggest kit sponsorship. Drawing upon inspiration of United’s rich history with the Adidas, the kit whilst focusing the iconic red, also features details from their 1980′s kits.
Adidas created plenty of hype around the kit launch, to the point where it nearly felt like a new player was going to be announced, which was a bit intense but fans will overall be quite happy with the new kit.
United group managing director Richard Arnold added: “Everyone at Manchester United is very proud of the shirt, which draws upon the club’s iconic kits of yesteryear”. Manchester United and adidas have a long and illustrious history in football, both leading the way in innovation and performance.
We are just a matter of hours away from the official unveiling of Manchester United’s first Adidas strip for 23 years.
“We are proud to welcome Adidas back to the Manchester United family and look forward to a successful and exciting future together”.
