Trump signals end to Clinton investigations
This was a big-change election without high turnout or an outpouring of new voters. By this point, many people already had voted by absentee ballots.
The group is lobbying their Republican counterparts to turn on the billionaire, denying him the 270 electoral votes necessary for the presidency.
“Investors are confident that Donald Trump will be the president come January”, Conlon said.
For states like Florida and Pennsylvania, they would need a vote difference of about 1 percent to conduct a recount. The concept gained steam in 2006 when John R. Koza, a computer scientist and former Stanford consulting professor, wrote a 620-page proposal to create the National Popular Vote Interstate Compact.
Trump also said he will withdraw from the proposed Trans-Pacific Partnership trade deal on his first day in office, part of a series of moves aimed at “putting America first”. “Because there has never been so many lies, so much deception”. Libertarian candidate Gary Johnson received 172,136 votes and Green candidate Jill Stein won 51,463.
“I think it would be very, very divisive for the country”, Trump said, defending his U-turn.
Other investigators, of course, don’t necessarily have to stop their probes, and there are some who will feel betrayed, but Trump’s call was the right one.
But that number is probably flawed. The fact is that the people did not vote Trump in but the system did.
Following the election many pundits rubbished the polling industry. The reality is that prior to the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), premiums were going up every year, but as soon as this law was passed, all the increases became the fault of the ACA.
A group of academics, lawyers and data experts is also trying to persuade the Clinton team to join their effort to investigate the results in three states to check there was no foreign computer hacking that manipulated the outcome. We know from reading our email that many Americans want Mrs. Clinton treated like Mel Gibson in the climactic scene of “Braveheart”. And they were right. They deserve, as all citizens do, the presumption of innocence. Just because you run for president doesn’t give you a get-out-of -jail free card.
There may be a lesson here about counting on the pull of identity politics. They are presently working to persuade their Republican counterparts from other states to ignore their oaths, and in certain cases, state law, to cast a non-Trump vote on December 19 when the Electoral College gathers to vote for the next President. A fierce critic of Obama during the presidential election when he described him as the worst ever president, Trump said “I really liked him a lot, and I am a little bit surprised that I am telling you that I really liked him a lot”. The margin she has with the President-elect is expected to grow since California, which is a stronghold of the Democrats, has yet to process over 2 million votes.
