Shoppers, retailers ready for early Black Friday sales

JCPenney will begin its Black Friday sale at 3 p.m. Thanksgiving Day, and will stay open Friday until 10 p.m. Online sale prices begin a day earlier, at midnight November 23.

Televisions, headphones and electronics, as always, are expected to be a big draw at big-box stores like Wal-Mart and Target. Although it might be good public relations for a store to say it won’t open on Thanksgiving so employees can have the day off, most major retailers are passing up the PR for a chance to get first crack at consumers’ dollars. They will reopen at 5 a.m. that Friday and will remain open until 10 p.m.
