Balloons, floats and police at Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade
There’s actually two! The Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade celebrates its 90th anniversary in 2016, and it takes place on November 24.
Tune into NBC at 9:00 a.m. EST on Thanksgiving to watch the 90th Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade live.
The hour-long primetime special will feature some of the most extraordinary elements from the nine decade history of the Parade. “I think that’s just the best part of it”, says parade volunteer Kostas Chronis, who works to get those massive parade balloons into the air and keep them afloat. The 360-degree live stream will be shot with five cameras and starts at 9 a.m.to sync with the parade’s start.

It’s one of the few traditions millions of Americans share, whether they are bundled up along the parade route or at home in pajamas watching from the sofa. All you’ll have to do is log into Verizon’s YouTube channel when the parade begins and you’ll be able to watch the parade live, with Marlon Wayans and Olivia Culpo hosting.

“You can ram a New York City Sanitation Department sand truck with a lot of things, but you’re not going to move it”, said John Miller, the NYPD’s top counterterrorism official.
Atop the floats are numerous this year’s performers, like Tony Bennett, De La Soul, Regina Spektor; Sarah McLachlan; Christopher Jackson; and the Muppets. As for balloons, you’ll spot Pikachu, Hello Kitty, Thomas the Tank Engine and Charlie Brown.
Among the celebrities expected to attend are Tony Bennett, Aloe Blacc, Sarah McLachlan and Olympic gold medalists Laurie Hernandez, Claressa Shields and Michelle Carter.
The beloved Peanuts character, Snoopy, will be floating down Broadway for the 39th time this year.
